Jo Ratnik (they/he/she) is an actor, writer, and theater maker based in Brooklyn, NY; and raised in Australia and the UK.

As an actor, they are drawn to characters, both classical and contemporary, that ignite feelings, perspectives and desires usually suppressed by day to day life. Jo adores exploring new work and has been a part of many developmental processes - including his own plays. She believes innovative and daring new work is vital to keeping theatrical culture alive. Jo has performed in theatre spaces across NYC, and has completed theatrical apprenticeships with organizations such as The Public Theater and Circle in the Square.

Jo writes plays that explore dyke and queer selfhood through meta-theatrics, Christianity, erotica and comedy. They enjoy crafting characters that almost get it right, creating demanding stage images and writing blunt, visceral dialogue. Although diverse in tone, his work (and working process) has a collective mission to resist bigotry, encourage empathy, and eradicate shame.
